How many characters or words can be written on rice?

Our objective is that you are able enjoy your rice jewellery without additional forms of magnification apart from your normal eye wear. What you will receive will be clear and legible.

Our order pages will generally allow you to write up to 9 characters in each text box. If you would like text longer than 9 characters per line or would like additional lines of text on your rice, please contact us first prior to placing your order and we will advise you if your request is achievable.

Please email us if you have a unique request e.g. you would like your names spread over 2 or 3 pieces of rice, or you would like a heart adding between two names, or you would like an additional heart added. We are more than happy to advise the best way to present your text.

How long does the rice and writing it last?

Many of our customers who had rice charms made for them two or three decades ago have still got them, and they are often as clear as the day they were created. A lot will depend on the way the rice artist prepared and sealed the rice. Our rice charms are suspended within a fine oil, and as long as the vial is not broken, there is no reason why the rice or writing would deteriorate. We will always ensure that each vial is secured such that no fluid can escape. Should you ever have a problem with your rice charm then you must please contact us and we will do what we can to help. 

What are the vials made from?

Straight tubular shaped vials are made from 1mm thick glass and although very strong can be damaged if dropped or crushed by sharp or metal objects like keys or coins. Shaped glass vials are generally thinner because they are blown glass and not recommended as key rings. Treat your rice charms with respect and they can be enjoyed for years to come. 

When choosing crystals, how do I know which is right for me?

There are many different of crystals to choose from. We simply inspire you to choose what makes you smile, and this is the same when you are choosing for a loved one. Try not to be too confused with birth stones as there can be over twenty different crystals compatible to each birth sign. If the crystals you are looking for are not shown in our products section, please feel free to send us an email with your request, as we keep a large variety of crystals in our stocks.

What material are your jewellery findings made from?

Most of the charms used in our jewellery, like the metal butterflies and flowers are made from Tibetan silver, an alloy which is used universally in the jewellery trade. Headpins, caps and jump rings are also made from varying alloys. In sourcing our findings, we seek to ensure that what we purchase is nickel and lead free, which seems to be the main causes of many jewellery associated skin complaints. If you have any concerns, please contact us first before purchasing.

Should you order rice charms with a 925 sterling silver chains and caps we will ensure that the wire and jump rings on the rice charm is also 925 sterling silver.  

What is the fluid inside of the vial?

We encapsulate the rice grain in a very fine mineral oil, this preserves the rice grain and the text. Water tight, air tight and friction free, your rice is completely protected. The oil also magnifies the text so it can seen more clearly.
